1 Samuel 16-18 #CEB

Here is our reading today, 1 Samuel 16-18.

In this passage we have one of the best known stories in the Bible.  What new detail jumped at you this time?  For me it was the fact that David did not need a sword, but he kept Goliath’s weapons for himself.  I wonder why?

    Perhaps David kept the sword of Goliath as a reminder to others that he had the power to kill him when no one had paid any attention to his value before. With the sword as a symbol, he would be able to have respect as a leader.
