Bible in a Year: Exodus 37-38 #CEB

Here is our reading for today at Exodus 37-38. Again this is the Common English Bible that I have been using for my devotional reading.

These two chapters again address the rules of worship that God demanded from the priests. I believe that God does this because our natural inclination as humans is to do only what is necessary. God wants our best, given the opportunity I believe we would short change God for our own convienence. My question for you today, is how do you short change God? What reaction does this realization have in your soul? Please comment after reading about grace filled comments.

Reading through the Bible: Exodus 34-36 #CEB

These chapters are again very interesting. God rewrites, but does not change, the the broken tablets. God also promises great amounts of power in God’s actions. Where do you see God acting today. Are there rules that you wish God had left out in this version of the law?

Reading through the Bible: Exodus 31-33 #CEB

These are some of my favorite passages in the Bible. I love in chapter 33 that Moses convinces God to act in a certain way. I also think that it is cool that Moses wanted to “see” God, and God allowed it to happen too. Chapter 32 is filled with great preaching material. What Golden calves do you worship?

Bible in a Year: Exodus 28-30 #CEB

These chapters hit me pretty close to home. Although I am not a priest, I am as close to a priest as you can get in my tradition. I encourage you to read through these verses carefully. There are some similarities in our “priests” of today and in the time of Moses. There is also a great deal of difference.

This is the time where we begin to refine our habit of reading the Bible everyday. If you started on Day 1 with us, you have read enough that you now have your patterns for this adventure. All of us have missed a day, some of us have missed more. Even if you are just starting today there is still 11 months left to go this year. You CAN do this, and the rewards are amazing.
